Philosophy and Curriculum

Welcome to UME Prep’s Academics Page! We have designed our academic program in such a way that teachers and parents work together to build a solid educational foundation for the scholars in their care. Scholars in our academic programs not only master core concepts and learn life skills, but they also build character and foster positive relationships along the way; and because the teaching and learning reach beyond the classroom and extend into the home, parents have the opportunity to weave their individual family values into the learning process.

Curriculum

UME’s curriculum approach is outstanding.  Our teachers use a variety of excellent strategies to engage their scholars and meet the TEKS standards.  Project-based learning, novel studies, guided reading, technology integration, and extracurricular activities are just a few of the choices offered to our scholars.  UME teachers and administrators understand that students learn in many different ways.  UME Prep provides TEA approved curriculum along with appropriate, challenging learning opportunities to meet the needs of every UME scholar.

A+ Academics

UME has added the A+ Academics program to our curriculum.  This program is sponsored by UIL and gives our scholars a chance to excel and compete in several subject areas.  We plan to continue expanding this program in the future to provide challenging extracurricular activities for our scholars.

TEKS

At UME Prep, we will be responsible for teaching your child the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). If you are interested in gaining a better understanding of the TEKS for your child’s grade level, we invite you to review the Texas Education Agency’s compilation of the TEKS for each grade level and subject.  Please follow the below website for more information. We would encourage you to scroll down to either “Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills by Chapter” and/or “Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills by Grade Level (Elementary).”
